Verizon customers are in for some good news, as the carrier has officially announced that it will finally start offering the HTC One on Aug. 22.
The HTC One is definitely among the hottest Android smartphones currently available on the market and it saw great demand and success. While all of the other carriers have been offering the handset to their customers for several months, Verizon was late to the party as usual.
After numerous rumors, leaked roadmaps and speculation trying to anticipate when the carrier will finally start offering the new HTC One flagship, Verizon has now finally made things official. The HTC One will become available from Verizon as well in less than a week.
The carrier announced in a tweet on Friday, Aug. 16, that it will start selling the HTC One on Aug. 22 in stores and online. As expected, the smartphone will cost $199.99 on contract.
Recent rumors also indicated that Verizon will have an exclusive blue color option available when it starts selling the HTC One, but the carrier made no mention of that so far. The blue HTC One may have been just a rumor that turned out not to be true, or Verizon may add the new color option to its lineup later on.
For now, the Verizon version of the HTC One will sport nothing different than the model for other carriers, except for the carrier branding. Verizon also made no mention of which version of Android will the HTC One be running out of the box, but the smartphone is expected to have Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on board.
It will be interesting to see, however, if launching the HTC One so late in the game will prove successful enough. While the smartphone created a lot of hype and was in great demand, many customers may have grown tired of waiting for Verizon to start offering the HTC One and may have set their eyes on other smartphone offerings.
Those who are still interested in buying the Verizon HTC One can either pre-order the smartphone from the carrier's website or wait until Aug. 22 and get it in stores.
