The purported HTC Zara is expected to launch as an affordable smartphone made of plastic, reportedly set to debut later this year.
HTC has not confirmed the existence of this handset yet, but many expect the company to launch the HTC Zara around the same time it unleashes its much-hyped 5.9-inch HTC One Max.
While the company chooses to remain mum on its upcoming plans, a well-known leakster breaks the silence once again by offering some seemingly official render of the purported smartphone.
The HTC Zara is rumored to be slightly larger than the HTC One Mini. The handset is expected to sport a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, run on the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and boast HTC's new Sense 5.5 user interface (UI).
Other rumored specs and features of the HTC Zara include a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus (MSM8930) processor clocked at 1.2GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, dual speakers on the front and Beats Audio. The smartphone will reportedly come with 8GB of internal storage, micro SD card support for additional memory, and a 2,100 mAh battery.
The newly-leaked render comes from notorious tipster @evleaks and shows an interesting watermark: @urbanstrata. That handle is for the official Twitter account of Jeff Gordon, HTC's Senior Global Online Communications Manager.
Gordon had previously said that an HTC One Max render @evleaks had revealed was fake, which makes this watermark on the new leak rather amusing. Gordon has declined to say anything about the HTC Zara, saying that his company does not comment on rumors and speculations. In other words, he did not confirm nor deny the existence of this handset.
The HTC Zara is expected to make its debut before the end of this year, hitting the market as a mid-range Android handset. The smartphone is expected to cost less than the HTC One Mini, but no official details are available at this point. HTC has yet to confirm anything, which means that for the time being it is advisable to take such leaks and rumors with a grain of salt.
