Walmart has always offered various discounts on iPhones and now the retailer has special offers for the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
Apple launched its new iPhone models on Sept. 10, as expected, unveiling the new iPhone 5S flagship and the lower-cost, plastic-made iPhone 5C. While some were disappointed with what the new iPhones have to offer, others are most likely willing to break their piggybank and get a brand new Apple smartphone.
The iPhone 5C, i.e. the lower-cost, lower-specced model, is set to go up for pre-order on Friday, Sept. 13, and launch on Sept 20. The iPhone 5S will make its commercial debut on the same date as the iPhone 5C, but will not be available for pre-order.
Walmart stores will also start taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5C on Sept. 13, offering the 16GB version with a $79 price tag. Walmart's pricing marks a $20 discount over Apple's standard pricing for the handset with an eligible upgrade or a new two-year contract. The iPhone 5S, meanwhile, will cost $189 for the 16GB model, a $10 discount compared to Apple's standard pricing. As previously mentioned, the iPhone 5S will not be available for pre-order at all, which means that Walmart is only taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5C.
Meanwhile, those who don't absolutely need to have the very latest-generation Apple smartphone can ignore the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and go for older models, which are now more accessible. Many retailers, including Walmart, are cutting the prices of the current iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and iPhone 4.
Walmart is now offering the 16GB iPhone 5 for $79 and the iPhone 4S for just $0.97 on contract. Moreover, starting on Sept. 16, iFans looking to purchase an iPhone 4 from Walmart will be able to get the older smartphone for just $0.10, while also getting a $100 Walmart gift card.
The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are two of the most anticipated smartphones of this year and they will hit store shelves soon, which means that other promotional offers will likely emerge as well, both for the new-generation iPhones and the older models.
