Cricket Wireless has announced that it will start offering the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C from Oct. 25 to customers who prefer prepaid mobile solutions.
The carrier has not yet offered any pricing details for the smartphones or its prepaid offerings, but it will likely give more information closer to launch.
The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are not available for pre-order on Cricket Wireless, but the prepaid mobile operator does allow interested customers to register their interest to receive further information.
Apple launched its new-generation iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C smartphones last month, amid great anticipation and high expectations.
The iPhone 5S sports the same 4-inch Retina display as its iPhone 5 predecessor, packing a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels at a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch (ppi). Under the hood, the smartphone boasts Apple's new A7 64-bit processor. The handset also introduced the controversial Touch ID fingerprint sensor for easier and safer unlocking.
Other specs include an upgraded 8-megapixel camera with 1.5u pixels and an f/2.2 aperture, as well as a True Tone Flash that should make photos look more natural. The new iPhone 5S also comes in three new colors - gold, silver and gray - instead of the standard black and white color options Apple has offered so far.
The lower-specced iPhone 5C, meanwhile, was widely expected to launch as the budget version of the iPhone. While it is indeed more affordable than the high-end iPhone 5S, the new iPhone 5C is not very cheap after all. The handset features the same Retina display as the 5S model, but packs a different processor under the hood. More specifically, the iPhone 5C uses the same A6 processor as last year's iPhone 5.
The smartphone also features an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture and LED flash. Perhaps the most notable aspect of the new iPhone 5C, however, lies in its casing material, as Apple ditched the iconic metal design in favor of plastic for this model. Moreover, the iPhone 5C comes in a colorful range of choices.
With Cricket Wireless' new offer, interested smarphone shoppers will now have a new option if they want to get an iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C on a prepaid scheme rather than a lengthy contract.
