The hotly-anticipated Google Nexus 5 may hit T-Mobile on the same day it officially goes on sale on the Google Play store.
Google has yet to unveil its new-generation Nexus smartphone, but the slew of leaks and rumors have only been intensifying recently, suggesting that a launch is imminent.
Amid numerous reports, new information has come to light regarding the much-rumored Nexus 5. A Reddit user has claimed to have spoken with a T-Mobile manager, learning some interesting details about the carrier's plans to launch one of the most anticipated smartphones of this year.
According to the tipster, the T-Mobile manager said that the carrier will launch the Nexus 5 on the same day that Google puts its new smartphone up for sale on the Google Play store. In terms of pricing, the manager reportedly said the T-Mobile Nexus 5 will be slightly more expensive than on Google Play, just like with the Nexus 4 was compared to its predecessor. What the manager did not reveal, however, is when exactly the smartphone will hit store shelves.
While Google has yet to announce the Nexus 5, various rumors and reports have tried to paint a picture of what to expect. The next-generation Nexus smartphone is expected to come from LG, the same manufacturer that made the Nexus 4. The smartphone will reportedly be available in two storage configurations, 16GB and 32GB, and two color choices - black and white.
The Nexus 5 is also expected to sport a 5-inch full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a pixel density of 442 pixels per inch (ppi), the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz and 2GB of RAM. It will also reportedly launch as the first device to rock the upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
Other rumored specs include an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 1.2-megapixel front camera, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 low energy (LE), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, NFC, and GPS. A 2,300 mAh battery will keep things up and running.
Google is expected to officially unveil both Android 4.4 KitKat and the Nexus 5 on Oct. 31 or Nov. 1, so it shouldn't be long until we get all the details. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more.
