The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 may get a taste of the new Android 4.4 KitKat soon, as the firmware is reportedly in testing right now.
The latest flagship Android phablet from Samsung, the Galaxy Note 3, shipped with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on board, which was the latest version of Android at the time. Google has since released its new Android 4.4 KitKat, sparking a frenzy of questions regarding which devices will get the new OS.
While Samsung has yet to make an official announcement, SamMobile has claimed that the company is currently testing the new OS version for the Galaxy Note 3.
"Confirmed: Samsung starts testing Android 4.4 for the GALAXY NOTE 3 #KitKat," SamMobile tweeted on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Considering that SamMobile has a good track record and has proved to be reliable in the past, there's a good chance that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will get the latest Android 4.4 KitKat shortly.
For those unfamiliar with the device, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 sports a massive 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Under the hood, it boasts the latest mobile processor from Qualcomm, i.e. the powerful Snapdragon 800, clocked at 2.3GHz. Adding even more horsepower, Samsung packed 3GB of RAM to keep things running fast and smoothly.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is available in three storage configurations - 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB, and has both front- and rear-facing cameras. The rear camera has a 13-megapixel sensor with auto-focus and an LED flash, while the 2-megapixel front shooter should allow for some nice selfies and quality video chats.
The latest flagship phablet from Samsung has already proved to be very popular, as the company recently announced that it sold over 5 million Galaxy Note 3 units since launch. That beats the success of its Galaxy Note 2 predecessor and demand is only expected to grow as the phablet becomes more widely available across the world.
If SamMobile proves to be accurate, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 may soon become even more attractive, rocking the latest Android 4.4 KitKat. Until official confirmation, however, take this news with a grain of salt.
