Apple recently announced its iPad Mini with Retina display and the slate is now finally available for purchase.
The original iPad Mini proved to be quite a popular tablet, but many were disappointed to find that the slate did not boast Apple's much-touted Retina display. Despite the decent resolution and good specs of the first-generation iPad Mini, iFans were eagerly waiting for a new iteration with a high-resolution Retina display.
Apple took consumers' wishes into account and finally delivered with the second-generation iPad Mini. The company announced that the iPad Mini 2 would rock a Retina display as expected, as well as several other top-notch specs and features. Apple did not, however, offer an exact launch date upon announcing the new tablet.
While the iPad Air had a specific launch date of Nov. 1, the new iPad Mini's commercial debut was rather vague, with the company only saying that it would launch "later in November."
It now looks like the big day is finally here, as Apple has started selling the iPad Mini with Retina display. As expected, pricing starts at $399 for the basic Wi-Fi 16GB model. Interested buyers can also opt for a 32GB, a 64GB or a 128GB model. The iPad Mini with Retina display, 3G connectivity and 128GB goes up to $829.
The iPad Mini has received high praise for its thin and light design. The slimmed-down version of the company's iconic iPad now rocks a high-end Retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. Apple has also bumped things up under the hood, packing its new 64-bit A7 processor and an M7 motion-tracking co-processor for a faster, smoother performance.
The iPad Mini with Retina display is expected to be even more successful than its predecessor. With the holiday shopping season just around the corner, Apple's new iPad offerings will likely find its way to several Christmas lists this year.
Apple lists a delivery time of 1 - 3 business days for the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi-only models, and 5 - 10 business days for all of the other variants of the iPad Mini with Retina display. The tablet is available in Silver or Space Gray color options.
