Samsung has started to roll out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to both international versions of the Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100 and GT-N7105).
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 launched back in October 2012 with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on board, and users have been stuck on this version ever since. This is the first major firmware update for the phablet and it will bring a slew of new features and improvements.
Just yesterday we reported that SamMobile had a "pretty stable" pre-release Android 4.3 firmware for the Galaxy Note 2, but now the official update is out. Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.3 over the air (OTA) to the global version of the handset, finally bringing long-awaited features.
The update is now rolling out to the international Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100) and Galaxy Note 2 LTE (GT-N7105). Samsung has yet to provide an official changelog for this update, but here are some of the biggest changes, as listed by SamMobile.
The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 does not, however, include the new S Pen features the Galaxy Note 3 introduced. Samsung may add popular features such as the new S Note, Air Command, and improved Search in a future update to the Galaxy Note 2, but there's no guarantee.
SamMobile further notes that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update is far more stable than the one that rolled out to the international Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300), and it's "amazingly fast."
As usual with OTA updates, this firmware is rolling out gradually, so it may take a while to reach all countries. Also, it may take longer to roll out if your Galaxy Note 2 is carrier-branded, as the carrier has to approve it first. SamMobile currently lists the update as rolling out in India, with other countries pending.
