After the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7 LTE (2013) got their Android 4.4.1 updates, the Nexus 10 now has its own download link for the latest software version.
Google's latest version of its popular mobile operating system is Android KitKat, which launched just recently. The new OS hasn't reached many devices yet, but Google is already busy with updates.
Nexus devices come with good specs and features at affordable prices, but many opt for such devices also because the Nexus experience means getting the latest Android version soon after its release.
The company released a new Android 4.4.1 KitKat version with build number KOT49E and now the update is available for download for the Nexus 10 as well, not just the Nexus 5, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 LTE (2013).
Just like with the other Nexus devices, interested users will have to manually install the new KOT49E build on their Nexus 10 tablet. To do so, first of all you have to download the update package from Google at this link. As expected, the device must be running its own stock ROM to upgrade to Android 4.4.1, which means version KRT16S for the Nexus 10.
If you simply cannot wait to get the OTA notification, installing the update manually is always a choice. Keep in mind, however, that going through the update process yourself does involve some risks, and if you don't really know what you're doing you might end up damaging your device. In general, it is recommended to go for the safer route and wait for the OTA to roll out.
Nonetheless, Google does offer download links to manually install the update package. The Android 4.4.1 update weighs in at just 51.3MB and comes straight from Google's servers.
This new version of KitKat made its official debut a few days ago, mainly to bring some camera fixes for the Google Nexus 5 smartphone. The update does include, however, some improvements for the other Nexus devices as well, such as the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10.
Google is also expected to launch a new Nexus 10 tablet soon, and various rumors indicate that a Nexus 8 may be en route as well.
