Verizon HTC One owners are in for some good news, as the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is finally ready to roll out to their devices.
Big Red is notorious for having a rigorous testing process that often implies significant delays in rolling out updates. While smartphone users on other carriers get updates to a newer software version, Verizon customers are often left waiting a bit longer for the same update.
Verizon has now finally approved the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean over-the-air (OTA) update for the HTC One, which means that it should start rolling next week. The information comes straight from HTC Product Management Director @Moversi, who shared the good news on Twitter.
"VzW HTC One Owners: We have received Technical Approval from Verizon on the 4.3 MR! We expect the OTA to start early next week! Thank you!" tweeted @Moversi.
The news comes roughly a month and a half after HTC America President Jason Mackenzie said that the Verizon HTC One update would be delayed, as the company needed more time to re-test the Android 4.3 build. At the time, Mackenzie said that it would take about a month. It has taken a bit longer, but it's better late than never.
The Verizon HTC One update will bring the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, as well a host of improvements to the manufacturer's Sense custom skin. The upgrade is also expected to bring some new features and general bug fixes that will improve the overall experience. Verizon has not updated its support documents yet to let us know what to expect, but we'll stay on top of this and keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available.
The update should start rolling out early next week for the Verizon HTC One, possibly as soon as Monday, Dec. 16. As always with OTA updates, however, keep in mind that the rollout will be gradual and it may take some time to reach all devices. If you own an HTC One and are a Verizon customer, let us know when you get the update notification.
