Instapaper is one of the most popular applications on the App Store for reading articles offline, and it will be free until Dec. 19.

In today's busy lifestyles, you often find something online that you would like to peruse but simply don't have the time at that point. In such cases, saving something for later reading offline seems like the best alternative, but it's not always that easy.

The App Store has no shortage in applications that allow users to read articles offline, but one particular app stands out from the crowd and seems to be among the most popular choices: Instapaper.

The app allows users to save articles for later reading offline on any device, at any given time, from anywhere. Instapaper enjoys quite a large user base, but many interested users have not downloaded the app because it costs a hefty $3.99. With the holiday spirit already surfacing everywhere, however, Instapaper has a surprise. Until Thursday, Dec. 19, Instapaper for iOS will be available for download completely free of charge so more users can enjoy it.

"Instapaper is feeling a surge of holiday spirit this year. From December 12th through the 19th, Instapaper for iOS will be free to download as part of Apple's App of the Week program," Instapaper announced. "We're really excited to work with Apple to make Instapaper free for a limited time, making the app available to a wider audience of iOS users."

As one would expect, Instapaper was not chosen as Apple's App of the Week for nothing. The developers behind the app were busy this year to make Instapaper better, adding several new features and improvements. Such goodies include a new design for the Instapaper website, iPhone and iPad apps, as well as powerful filtering and sorting features. Moreover, the app also received video support that now put it above the competition. Other additions improve improved sepia and dark modes, as well as a Chrome extension.

If you've been pining for Instapaper but refrained from getting it because of the app's price, you can now get Instapaper for iOS for free from the iTunes app store.
