Lenovo is apparently working on a at least one tablet with a full HD display, according to some new benchmark results.
The company has a good reputation, but it still has a way to go to make it to the highly-competitive tablet market. Lenovo recently revealed some Yoga tablets with MediaTek processors, sporting a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and a starting price of $249.
To make it big on the tablet market, however, Lenovo would have to step up its game and come up with something that could really challenge rivals. While the company has made no announcement yet, it seems that Lenovo is now working on a tablet with a full HD display and a Qualcomm processor under the hood.
An unannounced Lenovo tablet with model number B8080-F has popped up on GFX benchmarking sites, appearing with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The GFXBench listing further reveals that the purported Lenovo tablet packs a MSM8226 processor under the hood, i.e. the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, clocked at 1.5GHz. The tablet seems to be running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 is definitely not the highest-end processor, but it could still give Lenovo's tablet a nice boost in performance. If the tablet comes out with an affordable price tag, as the specs would suggest, Lenovo could stand a chance.
No other details are currently available regarding this unannounced device, and there's no word on when it might hit the market. However, with two big trade shows coming up - the CES 2014 in January and the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 in February - Lenovo might take the center stage at one of these events and introduce an upgraded tablet.
On the other hand, the fact that an unannounced Lenovo tablet with model number B8080-F has appeared in benchmarks does not guarantee that the product will actually see the light of day, or that it will launch with these specifications.
As always, it is advisable to take all leaks with a grain of salt until an official announcement. If Lenovo does have a new tablet in the works, we should hear more about it soon. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as we learn more.
