Seidio has announced a new OBEX case for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which will add notable protection and make the phablet waterproof.
As CES 2014 started to unfold, many companies unveiled a lot of exciting new products and devices. Amid a slew of new smartphones, tablets, laptops, PCs and what-not, some companies are also offering other products such as accessories. From this category, the new OBEX Samsung Galaxy Note 3 case from Seidio is definitely worth some attention.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is one of the most powerful and popular devices to hit the market recently. It comes with high-end specs and features, some pretty neat Samsung-exclusive functionality, the widely-popular S Pen stylus with enhanced features, and more. As with the vast majority of high-end devices, however, there's a price to match, and some may want to protect their investment by making their device a bit safer and more durable.
The new Seidio OBEX case for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 aims to do just that, offering extra protection for your device while also making it waterproof. The accessory will add a solid IP58 rating to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which means that the phabet will be able to withstand being submerged in water up to two meters for up to 30 minutes.
Moreover, the OBEX case will also protect the Galaxy Note 3 against dust, as well as drops from up to six feet from a variety of angles. Seidio has also included an anti-reflection glass with the case, which is designed to protect the speakers and microphones. The case also features rubber inserts that will keep all of the phablet's ports safe. Although it adds all these layers of extra protection, the case will still allow NFC signals to get through, and will not compromise the precious S Pen experience.
The Seidio OBEX waterproof case for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 currently appears as "in development" on the company's product page, but it is set to launch soon. While there's no doubt that this case would be an asset for a Galaxy Note 3 owner, opinions are divided when it comes to pricing.
The OBEX case will cost a hefty $79 when it launches, which many consider to be outrageous price tag for an accessory. Others, meanwhile, feel that a case that would make their Samsung Galaxy Note 3 waterproof and mroe rugged would be worth the investment.
