Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 to Debut with Minimal Crease And Enhanced Camera Island
Gio FarleySamsung has lined up the official launch of the next big foldable smartphone in the Galaxy Z Fold series - the Galaxy Z Fold6. The new device has been a Topic of discussion in the market, with Ice Universe, a well-known leaker, briefing on details of the features and improvements expected from the device.
Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold6 will sport a less visible crease on its internal display and a redesigned camera island, marking significant design improvements.
A major aspect of the Galaxy Z Fold6 is that there is a noticeable improvement to the foldable center line of the screen. However, Ice Universe has attributed the improvement to a much thicker Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) which has gone up from 30µm 5 to 50µm. This amendment is said to help ensure that the crease is less conspicuous, a concern that has been raised by users of successive models. The same approach is reportedly being used for the Galaxy Z Flip6, suggesting a broader strategy to enhance display durability and visual appeal across Samsung's foldable lineup.
The hinge design, while unchanged from the previous model, is set to undergo a major overhaul with the next generation, the Z Flip7. For the Galaxy Z Fold6, the focus remains on refining the existing design to achieve a thinner and lighter profile. The device will measure 12.1mm thick when folded and 5.6mm when unfolded, compared to the Z Fold 5s 13.4mm and 6.1mm respectively. This reduction in thickness, along with a weight decrease to 239 grams from the previous 256 grams, makes the Galaxy Z Fold6 more portable and user-friendly.
In terms of display, both internal and external displays will see slight changes to offer better usage and visibility and the next major change we will see in the camera island in the Galaxy Z Fold6. There are strange grooves around the lenses of the camera; this is both a plus for the appearance and touch of the device according to Ice Universe. Whereas this fold was the first of its kind to boast a very thin and unobtrusive cut around the lenses, the Galaxy Z Fold5 had only a small metal ring around those very lenses, making this a noticeable aesthetic improvement.
The build features will remain similar to the previous Galaxy Z Fold there are expected improvements on the part of photographers; this is because the Galaxy Z Fold6 is said to incorporate in its arsenal 50MP primary sensor, 12MP ultra-Wide lens, as well as the 10MP telephoto lens which is capable of 3x optical zoom. The device will also feature a front cover 10MP display camera and 4MP under-display selfie camera.
Rumors persist about an ultra model, Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra and it may contain the Camera ISOCELL HP2 Mixel 200 MP which has been used in the S23 and S24 Ultra. One more thing which should be mentioned is that these reports are still rather doubtful and more details are still expected.

When it comes to the sturdiness, the primary display on Galaxy Z Fold6's cover will use Corning Gorilla Glass and will include anti-glare coating that will make it more rigid and effective to be used when the lighting conditions are not Ideal. Nevertheless, users are expecting the device to boast of a 4,400mAh battery, which the previous model came equipped with, alongside 25W of fast charging. This decision has not received a warm welcome for competitors as they present faster ways for charging.
A notable implementation of the latest hardware is found under the hood of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 - it will come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in tow and give users absolute power.
