The Nokia Lumia 1520 Windows Phone 8 phablet may be getting a Mini version soon in the form of a Lumia 1520V, if a new report is to be believed.
Nokia launched its first phablet, the Lumia 1520, back in November. The device marked a first for both Nokia and for Microsoft, as it was also the very first phablet to run the Windows Phone 8 platform.
The super-sized smartphone stirred plenty of interest due to its impressive specs and features, but not all consumers are fans of the phablet trend. Some users still like a smaller, more compact smartphone that can be easily used one-handedly, and Nokia may be working on it.
According to a new report out of China, courtesy of WPBar, Nokia may be planning to launch a Lumia 1520 Mini. The device will purportedly be called the Nokia Lumia 1520V.
The original Nokia Lumia 1520 boasts a massive 6-inch full HD display and packs impressive specifications, including the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor. The new report claims that the smaller Nokia Lumia 1520V will come with a downsized 4.3-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The purported handset will also reportedly feature 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage capacity.
The report further mentions that the Lumia 1520V may have a 14-megapixel rear camera, which would be a downgrade from the 20-megapixel shooter found on the Lumia 1520. Other purported specs include a 3,000 mAh battery, and the smartphone is expected to rock Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box. The Lumia 1520V is reportedly set to debut after Microsoft releases Windows Phone 8.1 in April.
The source has also posted a leaked render of the purported Nokia Lumia 1520V, as seen above. Keep in mind, however, that Nokia has made no official announcement regarding a Lumia 1520 Mini, so we'll have to file this in the rumor category for now. If this report proves to be accurate, we'll likely hear more about this purported Nokia Lumia 1520V soon enough. Stay tuned for more details as soon as they become available.
