Samsung has two new Galaxy Note 3 models ready: the Olympic Games Edition and the Verizon-exclusive Rose Gold variant.
The company is well-known for its efforts to provide a device for every taste, and Samsung is now expanding its Galaxy Note 3 range, offering more choices for customers who want additional colors.
The new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Olympic Games Edition reportedly comes with special retail packaging (see above), as well as a special cover. According to a report from PhoneArena, however, this model is only available for purchase in the Netherlands at this point. The package also comes with free skating tickets for the local Amsterdam Olympic Stadium, and purchasing this edition will also give customers a chance to win a trip to the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, which will kick off on Feb. 6 in Russia.
Samsung has also announced a Rose Gold Galaxy Note 3 model, which is set to launch soon in the U.S. as a Verizon Wireless exclusive. The carrier is yet to list this model in its online store, but will sell the Rose Gold Galaxy Note 3 for $299.99 with a new two-year contract.
Other than the new color options, the Galaxy Note 3 remains unchanged in terms of specs and features. This means that it will boast the same massive 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 graphics, and 3GB of RAM. Other specs include a high-end 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, 32GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, and a large 3,200 mAh battery. Connectivity-wise, the phablet comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC, and an IR blaster that turns the device into a universal remote control, complete with a dedicated program guide.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on board, but an update to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat is already in testing and is expected to roll out soon. The device also boasts Samsung's TouchWiz UI and comes with the popular S Pen functionality.
The Olympic Games Edition of the Galaxy Note 3 will reportedly be available from Dutch carrier KPN for free on select plans. The Note 3 is also the official phone of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, and all participating athletes have received it as a gift. The Rose Gold Samsung Galaxy Note 3, meanwhile, will reportedly go on sale on Verizon's network by the end of January, for the aforementioned price of $299.99 on a new two-year contract.
