AT&T is now running a new promotion, offering the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy Mega for free when signing a new two-year contract.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is the rugged version of the company's flagship smartphone. It is designed to withstand harsher conditions and be more durable, targeting consumers with more active lifestyles. The Samsung Galaxy Mega, meanwhile, can hardly be called a phone considering its giant display. This device really blurs the line between a smartphone and a phone tablet, boasting a massive 6.3-inch screen that allows for better multitasking.
If you're unfamiliar with these two devices, check out their main specs below:
Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Specs
The rugged version of Samsung's flagship Galaxy S4 comes with a 5-inch full HD TFT display that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and is also scratch-resistant. The smartphone packs a 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB.
Other specs of the Galaxy S4 Active include an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and LED flash, as well as a 2-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity-wise, the handset supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on board, coupled with Samsung's TouchWiz Nature UX. An update to the newer Android 4.3 is available out of the box. In terms of ruggedness, the handset features IP57 water- and dust-resistance, which makes it usable even in harsher conditions.
Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Specs
The massive Galaxy Mega, meanwhile, sports a huge 6.3-inch PLS TFT HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and a pixel density of 233 pixels per inch. It houses a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood, along with 1.5GB of RAM.
Other specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for up to 64GB of additional memory, an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto focus, LED flash, 4x zoom, and 1080p video recording capabilities, and a 1.9-megapixel front camera. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC, and an IR blaster that can turn the device into a universal remote control. The smartphone is powered by a large 3,200 mAh battery and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Samsung's TouchWiz Nature UX on top.
AT&T Deals
If you've had your eyes set on the rugged Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, you can now get it for free from AT&T's online store, provided that you agree to sign a new two-year contract. If you'd prefer a smartphone with lower specifications, but a truly giant display, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is also available for free on a new two-year contract.
