Acer will finally launch its refreshed Aspire S7 ultrabook in the U.S. this week, boasting an impressive WQHD display among other improvements.
The company introduced its new Acer Aspire S7 untrabook alongside the Aspire S3 notebook back at Computex 2013. The refreshed Aspire S7 brings some notable improvements over its predecessor, as it packs a more powerful Intel Haswell processor, a larger battery, as well as the aforementioned WQHD high-resolution display.
In October 2013, Acer made the high-resolution models available in select countries across Europe, but now the company is also launching two Aspire S7 models with WQHD displays in the U.S.
According to a new report from Engadget, these two models are the Aspire S7-392-6425 and S7-392-9439. Both of these devices will come with 256GB of SSD storage capacity, 8GB of DDR3L RAM, and sport 13.3-inch WQHD IPS LED-backlit touchscreen displays.
As a reminder, the Acer Aspire S7 is the company's current flagship ultrabook. Acer has designed the device with an elegant, yet rugged form factor, featuring an aluminum unibody case and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection for the display. The Aspire A7 measures just 12.9mm in thickness and weighs in at 2.87 pounds, which makes it ultra-portable.
The refreshed model also provides an improved typing experience, as the Aspire A7's keyboard now comes with better keys designed for easier typing. Acer has also enhanced the device's battery life, which will now last for up to eight hours on a single charge. The new Aspire A7 further features second-generation Acer TwinAir cooling, which should keep it from overheating without being too noisy.
If you're interested in the refreshed Acer Aspire S7, two models of the ultrabook will go on sale this week in the U.S. and will be available from multiple retailers. The Acer Aspire S7-392-6425 packs an Intel Core i5-4200U processor and will retail for $1,499. The higher-end Aspire S7-392-9439 model rocks a more powerful Intel Core i7 processor, but the price goes up to $1,799.99. While we know that the two variants will become available for purchase this week, no exact launch date is available at this point. We'll keep you updated as soon as we learn more.
