Samsung has just released a new trailer for its Unpacked 5 event set for Feb. 24 in Barcelona, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, teasing "The Next Galaxy."
The rumor mill has been working overtime in anticipation of the Samsung Galaxy S5, with numerous leaks, rumors, and reports surfacing on an almost daily basis.
Samsung is widely expected to take the wraps off its next-generation Galaxy S5 in just a few days, and the company has offered several hints to confirm the smartphone's imminent debut. In a bid to further boost anticipation and build up momentum ahead of the big unveiling, Samsung has now posted a teaser video for its Feb. 24 Unpacked 5 event. While the trailer doesn't even show a tenth of an inch of the upcoming smartphone powerhouse, it clearly taunts the great things it will bring to the table. One image, for instance, is titled "wet" and shows kid splashing water all over, which may be a hint that the next Galaxy will be waterproof.
The trailer basically shows a slew of images in rapid succession, with each slide featuring a superscript "5" accompanying the image name. As previously mentioned, the video offers no image of the smartphone, nor any details on what it may pack under the hood, but the last image is a simple black background with the teaser "The Next GALAXY" written boldly in white.
With only a few days to go before the highly-anticipated Galaxy S5 makes its debut, reports keep piling up with more information. Most recently, GSM Arena claimed to have received confirmation from a top Samsung executive that the Galaxy S5 will go on sale in just three weeks. Moreover, the publication also revealed that the smartphone will come in a gold color option as well, likely in a bid to better compete against Apple and its current iPhone 5S flagship.
If GSM Arena's information proves to be accurate, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will hit stores sometime in mid-March, soon after its MWC debut.
When it comes to specifications, various reports have claimed that the next-generation Galaxy flagship smartphone will come in two variants, one "Prime" and one "Standard." The "Prime" model is expected to be a premium offering boasting a QHD display with a whopping resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, while the "Standard" variant would sport a full HD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to boast notable improvements over its predecessor, but no specs details are confirmed at this point. With the Samsung Unpacked 5 event just a few days away, however, we'll soon know all there is to know about the much-touted Galaxy S5. In the meantime, watch the teaser video below.
