The brand new Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone has gone up for pre-order in the UK, and interested buyers are in for some neat freebies.

With this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) now behind us, a slew of new devices from various companies are ready to hit retail availability in the coming weeks. The Sony Xperia Z2 is among the exciting devices unveiled at MWC and the handset is already available for pre-order in the UK, complete with some free accessories for early adopters.

Online UK retailer Clove has started taking pre-orders for the new Sony Xperia Z2, listing the device with a £458.33 (£550 including VAT) price tag. The good news doesn't end here, as interested buyers who pre-order the smartphone before April 7 will also receive a free Sony SRS-BTM8 wireless speaker, as well as a set of Sony MDR-NC31EM noise-cancelling headphones. Not only is Clove offering these neat freebies with the order, but its £550 price tag for the Sony Xperia Z2 is actually lower than what Sony is charging for the handset.

Clove lists the Sony Xperia Z2 as arriving in the week commencing on April 7, but availability is not confirmed yet. This means that it may get stock before April 7, or a bit later.

To get the free accessories, select "Continue" after adding the Sony Xperia Z2 to your basket and "Buy" when the speaker and headphone popup appears on the screen. The speaker and headphone discount will be automatically applied at checkout. The retailer does point out, however, that this offer is subject to availability and may expire at any time.

As for the handset itself, the Sony Xperia Z2 comes with a 5.2-inch full HD Triluminos display and packs a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor under the hood. The smartphone further boasts a hefty 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, and microSD support for additional memory. Other specs include a high-end 20.7-megapixel rear camera and a 2.2-megapixel front shooter. The handset is dust- and water-resistant and ships with Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, and is available in black, white, and purple color options.

If you're in the UK and you have your eyes set on the new Sony Xperia Z2, head over to Clove's website and pre-order the handset for a lower price and some cool freebies. The retailer also allows interested buyers to register their interest and receive notifications when the device becomes available.
