Verizon HTC One Max Android 4.4.2 KitKat + Sense 5.5 OTA starts Monday, April 7
Alexandra BurlacuOwners of the HTC One Max on Verizon Wireless are in for some good news, as the phablet is set to receive the long-awaited update to Android 4.4 KitKat.
HTC deserves appreciation for the way it handled the whole update process. The company has been quite transparent with its plans to update its Android handsets, releasing regular updates on the state of the upgrade process for various devices.
The HTC One (2013) has already received the update to Android 4.4 KitKat in most regions, leaving the HTC One Mini and HTC One Max in queue for the chocolaty treat. The AT&T HTC One Mini has already gotten its KitKat flavor, as did the Sprint HTC One Max.
Now, HTC comes with good news for more HTC One Max owners, not just those on Sprint. The company's executive director of product management, Mo Versi, has just tweeted that the Verizon HTC One Max will get the latest version of Android, as well as an updated Sense UI, via an over-the-air (OTA) update starting Monday, April 7.
"HTC Verizon One Max Owners! We have received technical approval for Sense 5.5 + OS 4.4.2! Expect the OTA to start on Monday afternoon," Mo Versi announced on Twitter.
No changelog is currently available for the upcoming update, but it should bring a similar set of new features and improvements as the Sprint version. The HTC One Max has proved to be a pretty popular device, and Sprint users who have already received the update reported notable improvements in performance and user experience. The Verizon version of the phablet will get the same treatment soon, receiving all the goodies the latest version of Android has to offer, as well as the Sense 5.5 treats.
As always with OTA updates, keep in mind that the update rolls out gradually, which means that it may take a few days for all HTC One Max units to get their upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat and HTC Sense 5.5. HTC One Max owners should receive the update notification in the next few days. If the notification takes too long to arrive, you can always manually check for the update's availability from the device settings.
