Age of Empires: World Domination coming this summer to iOS, Android & Windows Phone (VIDEO)
Alexandra BurlacuMicrosoft has released a teaser for its upcoming Age of Empires: World Domination, a mobile version of the popular PC game franchise.
Developed by Japanese gaming company KLab Inc., Age of Empires: World Domination will launch this summer on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. The mobile game sports a revamped real-time battle system specifically optimized to work on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, and will arrive in June.
Age of Empires: World Domination will allow players to choose between the Celts, Vikings, Franks, or Huns, and build a powerful army to dominate in online multiplayer combat.
The official news comes roughly one year after rumors started to emerge that Microsoft would team up with KLab and bring several of its Xbox and Windows games to the iPhone. Age of Empires was rumored to be the first title to launch from this collaborative effort, arriving as a free-to-play title.
With Age of Empires: World Domination now confirmed to launch on iOS this summer, other titles from Microsoft will likely make their way to Apple's mobile platform as well. Aside from iOS, the game will also launch on Android and Windows Phone, but no specific launch date is currently available.
The teaser video Microsoft released to confirm the upcoming launch of Age of Empires: World Domination doesn't really reveal much else other than the vague release timeframe. The actual gameplay appears in the video only for a few seconds, which makes it rather difficult to determine exactly to what extent the mobile version will go. From what it shows, however, the battles have made it to the mobile version complete with spears, horses and wrath.
It also remains unclear at this point whether the Age of Empires: World Domination gameplay will be along the same lines as the series' traditional real-time strategy or will follow a different path, but the trailer nevertheless teases "an all new battle system reimagined for mobile."
No other details are currently available, but you can watch the teaser below and see what World of Empires: World Domination has planned for mobile. In the meantime, you can also pre-register your interest on the game's official website at this link and receive more information and exclusive access.
