Microsoft Surface Pro 3 to come in five models – Partial specs, pricing & options leak
Alexandra BurlacuMicrosoft is rumored to unveil a third-generation Surface Pro tablet in a couple of days, and some more details have now surfaced regarding this slate.
The company has scheduled an event for May 20 in New York, where it is widely expected to announce a Surface Mini, as well as a Surface Pro 3. New details have now surfaced regarding the latter tablet, revealing partial specifications, configurations, pricing, and color options.
According to a new report from WPCentral, Microsoft will unveil five versions of its next-generation Surface Pro tablet, all with different configurations and at different price points. Here are the newly-leaked configurations and their prices:
The upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is expected to boast a thinner bezel around the display, as well as a larger screen size (possibly 12-inch). The Windows button will also reportedly be located on the vertical side of the tablet instead of the horizontal one.
Microsoft is also expected to offer larger Type Covers with these new tablet models, and color options will include black, purple, red, and cyan. The red color option will reportedly be available exclusively through Microsoft Stores. Currently there are no details on the tablet's exact display size, battery, weight, or other.
The Surface Mini, meanwhile, is expected to come in the 8-inch range and go up against the iPad Mini and the Nexus 7. This slate is rumored to run Windows RT and pack a very accurate stylus for OneNote integration and easy note-taking. This slate is rumored to launch sometime in late June and come with a click-in cover with a multi-mode kickstand. The Surface Mini may be priced at around $350, but nothing is confirmed so far.
We'll be covering Microsoft's event on May 20 and bring you all the latest news as soon as they become available, so stay tuned. In the meantime, take all these leaks with a grain of salt.
