Sony Smartwatch 3 pops up on Google Play, sports $249.99 price tag
Alexandra BurlacuGoogle has added a number of new devices to its Play Store this week, including the new Sony Smartwatch 3 running Android Wear.
The Sony Smartwatch 3 is one of the latest gadgets running Google's new Android Wear operating system specifically designed for wearable devices, and it is now listed on the Google Play Store with a $249.99 price tag. Despite the listing, however, the device doesn't seem to be available for purchase just yet. At the time of writing, the listing appears with the purchase button grayed out, with the mention "coming soon."
Nevertheless, it's a solid indication that the Sony Smartwatch 3 will be available for sale momentarily, although its price tag may seem quite hefty to some.
As a reminder, the Sony Smartwatch 3 comes with powerful specifications on board, such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage capacity, and a 420 mAh battery. The smartwatch comes with a 1.6-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and a rectangular form factor.
While these specs are more than decent, the Sony Smartwatch 3 stands out from the crowd due to the sensors and connectivity it offers. More specifically, the device boasts its own GPS antenna built-in, and it is also Wi-Fi ready. Sony is also throwing in its special software with a few neat apps that aim to help users keep track of their fitness activities.
The smartwatch made its official debut back at IFA 2014 in early September, and all signs now point to an imminent debut on the market. The Google Play Store seems ready to start selling the Sony Smartwatch 3 very soon, and the device will likely see wider availability from Sony and other retailers as well.
The Google Play Store offers no exact date or timeframe for when the Sony Smartwatch 3 will actually become available for purchase, as it only notes that the device is "coming soon," but we'll keep you up to date as soon as something changes.
