The purported successor to the Nokia Lumia 1020 has recently leaked online in some alleged photos and now more details have surfaced regarding specs.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 made its debut back in 2013, which means that a successor could arrive sometime in the near future. Shortly after a leaked image surfaced online claiming to show the unofficially dubbed Lumia 1030, a new report now offers more details on the matter.

The highlight of the Nokia Lumia 1020 was in the camera department, as the handset boasted a whopping 41-megapixel main shooter, so it's only natural to assume that its successor would focus on this aspect as well. On the other hand, the latest info seems quite unlikely, as it would be a bit of an overkill if it turns out to be accurate.

More specifically, a new report from Nokia Power User (NPU) now claims to have received additional details about the Lumia 1020 successor, the purported Lumia 1030. According to one of the publication's tipsters, the upcoming Lumia 1030 will boast a massive 50-megapixel camera on its back, thus delivering an even more insane megapixel count compared to its predecessor.

At the same time, the source also said that the Lumia 1030's alleged 50-megapixel sensor will come from Toshiba and, unlike the Lumia 1020, the new iteration will replace the Xenon flash with a fourth-generation short pulse LED flash instead. Moreover, the Lumia 1030 will not have the mechanical shutter of its predecessor either, according to the tipster.

The new-generation smartphone should launch under the new brand sans Nokia, sporting the "Microsoft Lumia" branding instead of "Nokia Lumia." Microsoft recently unveiled the Lumia 535 smartphone as the first one to ditch the Nokia moniker from its name, and all subsequent Lumia devices in the lineup will launch under the new branding.

It remains to be seen whether this purported Lumia 1030 will actually have a 50-megapixel camera, and it also remains unclear just what other improvements it will sport over its predecessor. It's all in the rumor state at this point and all information is based solely on leaks and rumors, so it is highly advisable to take everything with a hefty grain of salt for now.
