Samsung Galaxy S6 alleged images leak, show fully-assembled device

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to be one of the hottest smartphones of 2015 and some newly-leaked images allegedly show what the device will look like.

Rumors and leaks regarding the next-generation Samsung Galaxy S6 have been intensifying recently as we get closer to the expected unveiling in February or March.

While the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 were widely popular, the Galaxy S5 was less successful and many blamed its underwhelming performance on the lack of real innovation. As a result, recent reports suggested that Samsung has gone back to the drawing board for its upcoming Galaxy S6, as it wants to come up with something truly refreshing that would be more successful than the current Galaxy S5.

If the newly-leaked images turn out to be the real deal, however, this whole going-back-to-the-drawing-board move dubbed "Project Zero" for the Galaxy S6 will not bring such groundbreaking innovation after all.

According to Phone Arena, these alleged images claiming to show the next-generation Samsung Galaxy S6 come from Iranian blog Toranji. The shape of the purported device seems to fall in line with recent leaks showing parts of the smartphone, but nothing is confirmed at this point.

The purported Galaxy S6 shown in these images sports the same old, familiar shape of the Galaxy smartphone line, albeit with a new element. The 2015 Galaxy flagship smartphone seems to have borrowed the metal frame of the Galaxy Alpha, which would be a step forward compared to its plastic-bodied predecessors. On the other hand, many are hoping to see a Galaxy S6 with a full-metal body, and Samsung already proved it could be up to the challenge as it recently launched a new Galaxy A series of smartphones with metallic unibody designs.

Lastly, the leaked images also show notifications in the style of Android 5.0 Lollipop, which makes sense considering that the Galaxy S6 is expected to ship with the latest Android version on board out of the box.

In terms of specifications, meanwhile, previous rumors have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S6 would sport a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and pack a 64-bit Exynos 7420 or Snapdragon 810 processor under the hood (Samsung typically releases two variants with different processors, based on region). Other rumored specs include ARM Mali-T760 graphics, 3GB of RAM, a 20-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front shooter.

Keep in mind, however, that nothing is official at this point and all leaks, rumors, and reports should be taken with a hefty grain of salt.
