Dell Venue 10 7000 business Android tablet with premium design announced for $499
Alexandra BurlacuDell has a new Android tablet for business customers, as the company just unveiled the premium Dell Venue 10 7000.
The tablet will make its commercial debut in May, launching in the U.S., Canada, and China, at a $499 price point. Dell offered no additional details regarding a wider availability at this point, but is expected to announce more markets at a later date.
The $499 price tag is for the tablet itself, but Dell will also offer a $629 bundle that will pack a detachable magnetic keyboard for extra functionality and convenience. With the keyboard attached, the tablet will offer five different modes: slate, tablet, stand, tent, and clamshell.
As the company itself points out, the new Dell Venue 10 7000 builds on the premium design of the Dell Venue 8 7000, rocking the same "razor-thin" profile and sleek body. The device should be quite comfortable to hold and carry, resembling the highly-acclaimed design of the Lenovo Yoga series of hybrid devices.
"Dell customers want more from their tablets. They want to be productive and get work done wherever they are, they want a great entertainment experience, and they want to carry something that turns heads. The Venue 10 7000 gives our customers all that and more: enhanced productivity with a full-sized keyboard and Android for Work, a brilliant display and innovative features like the Intel RealSense snapshot depth camera, all wrapped in a gorgeous design," Neil Hand, vice president of the Dell Tablet Group, said in the press release.
In terms of specifications, the new Dell Venue 10 7000 sports a 10.5-inch OLED touch-enabled display with a high resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, while under the hood it packs a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The slate further features 16GB of internal storage capacity, an 8-megapixel RealSense depth camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, a 7,000 mAh battery, and front-facing stereo speakers for a quality audio experience. Moreover, the Dell Venue 10 7000 also aims to boost productivity with Android for Work, making it suitable for business users.
"We're excited to continue our collaboration with Dell on the Venue 10 7000 tablet. Based on the Intel Atom processor, the new tablet will bring a high quality, smooth experience with long battery life in a sleek design, whether it's for work or play. The Intel RealSense snapshot technology in the new tablet will also provide people with exciting new ways to capture the world," added Navin Shenoy, Vice President and General Manager of Intel Mobility Client Platforms.
