Xbox One console gets new price cut in the UK, now available for £299.99
Alexandra BurlacuThe Microsoft Xbox One gaming console is now just £299.99 in the UK, dropping from its previous £329.99 price tag in the country.
Various retailers were already offering the Xbox One at a reduced price, but Microsoft has now made the price cut official, across the board. As of now, the console is available for £30 less, retailing for £299.99.
"The best games. The best exclusives. The best time to buy an Xbox One. Now starting at £299.99," Microsoft announced in a new post on Twitter on Monday, April 13.
The folks over at Eurogamer spoke with Microsoft and asked about the new price cut, and the company reportedly told them that it's a "UK-only retail promotion," which means that the console will not receive a similar discount in other markets as well. At the same time, this suggests that the UK price cut may be a limited-time deal, set to expire soon.
On the other hand, Microsoft had a similar promotion in the U.S. a while ago, and ultimately kept the lower price for good. If the company has a similar strategy in mind for the UK, the new promotional price cut may end up as permanent as well.
Moreover, by making this price cut official in the UK, Microsoft is also encouraging retailers to drop the price of the console and available bundles from now on, even more than they have so far.
This UK discount for the Xbox One comes as one of the latest treats from the company. Just recently, Microsoft announced that Xbox One owners in the U.S. will be able to enjoy a new energy-saving mode as an alternative to the Instant-On mode, as the company received lots of criticism over power consumption. At the same time, Microsoft also announced that it just made a deal with HBO to offer the Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere for free on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles, albeit only until April 16.
The latest price cut for the Xbox One console in the UK will likely make it even more popular and boost sales of the device in the country. To take advantage of this deal, head over to the company's website at this link.
