LG Urbane Second Edition Smartwatch Pulled from the Market Regarding Harware Issues

LG seems to be in trouble again. LG has recently stopped accepting orders for their Urbane Second Edition smartwatch. This is a bit unexpected as the product has just went on sale a week ago, particularly last Nov. 11 for pre-orders at AT&T and Verizon Wireless

The tech company said that they had to unfortunately cancel the rollout of the smartwatch because of an unspecified issue with the watch's hardware. The company said that during the quality assurance process for the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE; their engineers became aware of a hardware issue that can affect the daily functionality of the said device.

The company further stated that after conducting the necessary investigation, LG has decided to cancel the rollout of their latest smartwatch edition due to the complexity of the issue. They also said that there are no decisions yet whether or not the device will be returned to the market as they have set to decide the matter in a later time. LG, for their part, says that their main priority is ensure that only products that has met their specific quality standards will be sold by their company.

It was supposed to be the latest Android Wear smartwatch as a follow-up to LG's earlier Urbane watch which was released in May. The device looks a bit similar to a classic timepiece. It has a 480 x 480 pixel resolution which is, so far, the highest that a smartwatch ever had.

The cancellation of the smartwatch also pose a setback to Google as the LG Urbane Second Edition smartwatch was being marketed as the first Android Wear smartwatch with cellular connectivity for placing and receiving calls even if the user's phone isn't on hand.

Smartwatches, so far as today's innovation is concerned, is still considerably limited. They need to be synced to a smartphone to make and receive calls and messages and carry out certain tasks. It could be a problem if the user is out and has left their smartphone at home, in the office or somewhere else.

This problem was what prompted LG and Google to create the Urbane Second Edition smartwatch. As Google said in their post earlier this month, the problem is solved with their smartwatch as long as the user's watch and phone are connected to a cellular network, they would be able to send and receive messages, track their fitness, get answers from Google, and also run their favourite apps. They will also be able to make and take calls using their watch even if their phones are not with them or if their hands are full.

Carriers AT&T and Verizon Wireless also hasn't issued a statement as to what they plan to do now that the smartwatch has been shelved. Google also hasn't released any announcement or blog post regarding the cancellation of the smartwatch.
