Overwatch: Blizzard's Newest Shooter Gets Glowing Reviews

Jazz Rosin

It looks like everybody is crazy about Overwatch, Blizzard Entertainment's latest first-person shooter game. From happy fans to satisfied game critics, there's nothing but praise for the game. Let's have a look at what most people have said about Overwatch.

Forbes hails Overwatch as a 'miracle', commending Blizzard for being able to save the infamous failure that was Project Titan and turn it into a beautiful arena shooter. The news outlet said that Overwatch is not just an amazing game, but it's a 'great world' and describes it as 'fresh, fun and like you simply can't get enough'. Forbes also pointed out that the game caters to every gamer, with its roster of characters with different playstyles. Finally, Forbes gave the game a perfect 10, calling Overwatch 'your new heavyweight champion'.

Gamespot gave the game a 9 out of 10 , describing the shooter as 'somewhat of a time machine, travelling back through the history of the shooter genre and borrowing ideas from iconic shooters throughout the years' like Quake, Call of Duty, and Counter-Strike. The game news outlet praised the game for emphasizing team play and also for its 'colorful cast', saying that Overwatch has every hero so perfectly made that each 'could have entire games designed around them'. Gamespot ends its review saying that Overwatch 'stands to be one of the best shooters in years'.

Destructoid also gave Overwatch a perfect score, describing Overwatch as 'a perfect marriage of casual and hardcore FPS gameplay'. The website also praised its diverse character lineup, saying that each character is fun to play. Destructoid has no major complaints about the game, calling the Overwatch launch 'one of the smoothest Blizzard launches yet'. As a final word, Destructoid predicts that Overwatch will be stay relevant for a very long time.

CG Mag Online has given the game an 8 out of 10, calling it a 'colorful breath of fresh air', compared to the other shooters today. The only major gripe is in the micro-transactions implemented in the game. "As a free-to-play title, I'd have no problems with the grinding and micro-transactions, but these mechanics in a feature-lite, full priced title, mar the overall experience for me. Maybe you're okay with that, but I'm not. No matter how many games do it, I'll never be okay with it." CG Mag's Jed Whitaker said.

One look at the #Overwatch tag on Twitter will tell you how happy the players are with the game. The growing Overwatch fandom has said nothing but good things about the shooter, a good sign for one of Blizzard's most successful IP's to date.
