Meanwhile, the series showrunner Julie Plec, has always been vocal and persistent about the actor leaving the show, and she wanted Dobrev back after her exit in season 6.

Dobrev mentioned that she wanted to try out her luck in other projects rather than "The Vampire Diaries". Plec, however, mentioned, "So I'm sticking with my side of the plan, which is to bring her back at the very end," reported the Christian Post.

In addition, this season will show Bonnie struggling to get back the love of her life. Speaking to Yahoo! TV Julie Plec revealed, "Bonnie, out of everybody, is the one who's going to be just paralyzed by this struggle. "

She continue, "She has two men in her life - Damon, who's a platonic, but also deep, soulful best friend, and Enzo, who has really become her one true love - and she lost both of them in one fell swoop. In addition to that, she also lost her magic. She's starting at an absolute deficit in terms of being able to fix this problem. That's going to have a great impact on her."

Thus, it seems that eager viewers of "The Vampire Diaries" will have to wait to see what the Season 8 will bring. There has been no confirmation about the release date of the next season, but it is expected to be on air in late 2016.
