'Scalebound' Release Date Outed by British Retailer, Shows March 2017 Launch

A UK retailer might have just revealed the release date for the much anticipated Xbox One title, "Scalebound".

British retailer Base.com has put up a link for the Xbox One exclusive, with a UK release date of March 31, 2017 (March 27 in the US).

Gamepur reported that if this date is true, then it will be released ahead of its expected date of Summer or Fall of 2017.

On the other hand, it could just be a placeholder, a standard procedure for online retail stores like Amazon or Ebay. However, GamingBolt pointed out that the standard placeholder for games with no definite release date (like "Mass Effect: Andromeda") is December 31.

It is also helpful to note that other games which do not have definite dates yet like "Kingdom Hearts 3" and "Ni no Kuni: Revenant Kingdom" both have December 31 placeholders.

The same retail website is also responsible for the alleged "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Definitive Edition" leak, with a link revealing that the game will be out on November 23 in the UK.

"Scalebound" is an action RPG developed by indie Japanese studio Platinum Games ("Metal Gear: Revengeance", "Bayonetta" series) and published by Microsoft Studios. The game was first revealed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2014 by director Hideki Kamiya, and was shown again at Germany's Gamescom in 2015.

Platinum Games then announced that its Xbox One exclusive game will be pushed to a 2017 release date instead of the scheduled second half of 2016. This will give them time to polish the game according to what the team has originally planned.

In a Gamespot interview last December, director Kamiya said that the development of "Scalebound" is filled with challenges. "From the experience in making original games, everything and anything is a challenge at this point." the director said.

Gamepur speculates that "Scalebound" might have some screen time at this year's E3. However, there is also a huge possibility of the game being showcased at Gamescom in August instead, just like last year.
