Ever wanted to keep track of your activities on Google, or wanted to know your most used Google services? Well, Google has now made that possible. We are not sure how many Googlers out there want to keep track of their Google activity, but that is far better than a company keeping track of you. Then again, this could be an easier way for Google to know what you are doing.

To get into the service, you are required to option in by going to the Google Activity Tracker page. By doing so, you will get a monthly email that gives you information on how many times you logged into Gmail, the amount of messages sent and received, the browsers used to gain access Google, the number of Google searches made, how many places you have visited on Google Latitude and more.

We have to admit, it sounds enticing. Just knowing how many Google searches we have done in a month is enough to get us running over like headless chickens without a cause, and despite the fact that there is a chance Google might be collecting information of some sort.

Google claims it is offering this feature to protect users from unauthorized activity on their Google account. The company had this to say on its blog page:

"Knowing more about your own account activity also can help you take steps to protect your Google Account. For example, if you notice sign-ins from countries where you haven't been or devices you've never owned, you can change your password immediately and sign up for the extra level of security provided by 2-step verification."

We believe Google's new activity tool can be put to good use. Users can analyze how many email messages they have sent each month to see if they are spending too much time doing so that something else. The ability to locate a specific Google search query among other things.

Time will tell if Googlers will actually opt to use the service in numbers, or if it will become another Google service to go the way of the Dodo bird.
