'Watch Dogs 2': Aiden Pearce vs Marcus Holloway; Who Should Have Been in The New Game?
C. de LacyWith the "Watch Dogs 2" release just around the corner, fans are all excited, to say the least. However, not all were happy with the introduction of the new protagonist Marcus Holloway. Did Aiden deserve a comeback instead?
Some players were were not exactly happy with the introduction of Marcus due to racial differences. However, there may be other reasons for other players to still want Aiden return in the game, despite the first protagonists being branded as a "boring character."
Marcus is a good character, but here are some possibilities if Aiden made a comeback in the game.
In an article posted by Tech Legends, a clear comparison was made between Aiden and Marcus. One big difference between the two were the approach that will be introduced with the players.
Marcus, being the more sociable protagonist, is expected to be working with a group. This is a great thing, especially for those who enjoy working in numbers.
However, Aiden's way of things clearly contrasts. Covert operations are more frequent, and the first game actually had the stealth integration well executed.
If the player's preference would be going alone against many just like the ever-popular Big Boss, Solid Snake and even Sam Fisher, then Aiden will fit the role perfectly; add the possibilities of hacking with "Watch Dogs 2."
In terms of character backstory, Marcus' is well written. Being framed up for a crime that you didn't commit is a classic, but not clichéd approach. That's where Marcus finds himself after being mistaken for a high profile criminal.
This caused his hatred with ctOS grow stronger and decided to be a member of DedSec to fight off ctOS and gain members through different efforts.
Aiden's reason in gaining hate with the system could subjectively be more personal. He was a former grey hat hacker that got his family involved in a tragedy that costed his young niece's life.
Hating ctOS is one thing and changing your way of life is another.
Aiden's character, unfortunately, was presented is such a boring way that players and reviews thought of him as a hollow character.
"Watch Dogs 2" isn't officially released yet and nobody know for sure how it will actually compare with the first game. Still, Ubisoft could have done a good job anyway by having Aiden back and get him to clean his own "mess" in the first game.
