PS4.5 Neo vs Xbox Scorpio vs Nintendo NX: What Will Happen To PS4, Xbox One, Wii U?
C. de LacySony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are getting fans all pumped up for the upcoming PS4.5 Neo, Xbox Scorpio, and Nintendo NX. However, what's going to be left of the previous platforms and are they still worth purchasing or keeping?
Like a lot of other websites, we've had a closer look at the three upcoming consoles from the three companies who are battling their way on people's home console entertainment system. However, some consumers and owners might be wondering of what's going to be left of their currently owned platforms.
Original PlayStation 4
In terms of processing power, PS4.5 Neo or simply PS4K tops the original PS4 with the capability of 4K gaming resolutions. It also has faster clock speeds and "improved" graphics.
More important that graphical prowess and eye-candy is the exclusivity of games, which might be a worry for some owner of the PlayStation 4 especially those who have just gotten one.
There's no real need for worries though as Eurogamer reported before that Sony is setting a clear guideline for game developers and publishers regarding the "non-exclusivity" of games co-existing between the original PS4 and PS4.5 Neo.
All games for both PS4 and Neo should work for both console as per Sony's instruction. No exclusivity whatsover.
With these takeaway, it fans would be able to rest easy about the upcoming PS4.5 Neo if they still don't have the budget for it or just recently acquired the PS4.
Original Xbox One
Microsoft, just like Sony, is also being strict with its guidelines pertaining to the Xbox Scorpio, Xbox One S, and the orignal Xbox One's co-existing.
In an interview with Wired, Phil Spencer, Xbox's big wig, did say that the Xbox One S and Scorpio are simply the company's move to "catch up" with the 4K and VR tech.
"We're going to have versions of those games that will work on Xbox One and Xbox One S, as well as supporting Scorpio," Spencer stated.
To keep things short, it would be safe to say that the case is the same with Xbox One as owner who just recently purchased the original Xbox One don't necessarily need to buy another one immediately.
Nintendo Wii U
While there's a very big possibility of the Nintendo NX completely replacing the previous Wii U due to hardware differences and upgrade, the late Nintendo President Satoru Iwata stated shareholder presentation before that "It would be highly inefficient to stop releasing titles for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U right after the launch of NX."
However, up to this point, there is no clear reassurance of Wii U's lifespan as well as the 3DS. Wii U sales may hit its worst drop yet especially its initial reception.
Being worried about the Wii U's eventual demise is justifiable, but it would still be best to wait and see for Nintendo's official announcement and specs for the NX to find out if third party support will be cut off totally.
Stay tuned for more updates, news, and comparisons for the PS4, Xbox, and NX.
