While addressing the latest report from BuzzFeed News, Former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo denied all the claims made against him of censoring abusive tweets directed towards President Obama during the Q&A session in 2015. He stated that all the remarks have no logic behind them.

"Total nonsense and laughably false as anybody who would speak on the record would tell you," said Costolo on Twitter. "Absurd. It shows a lack of understanding of the very basics of how trust and safety work at Twitter."

According to reports, Costolo had instructed his media team to use an algorithm to filter all the abusive comments addressed to the President under the hashtags #AskPOTUS. The Ex-CEO's team also reportedly censored many tweets manually.

According to reports submitted by BuzzFeed News, Costolo's censor directive was a muddled attempt to control the growing harassment issues on Twitter, reported Mashable. It is stated that the censorship was kept a secret from the top management people in the company, as the ex-CEO was well aware of their negative reaction.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco-based company responded to the allegations made against Costolo and stated that the reports submitted by BuzzFeed News still need to be verified.

"We feel there are inaccuracies in the details and unfair portrayals but rather than go back and forth with BuzzFeed, we are going to continue our work on making Twitter a safer place," said the Twitter representatives in a statement for the accusations made by the above-mentioned publication.

Earlier in February, Twitter had assured its shareholders that the company is working towards addressing user complaints about abusive tweets. Reports claimed that the social networking site had planned to use innovative technology to help people address this issue.
