"Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 is about to be grittier and darker than ever. Series writer "Bob" spilled that the third season will be the most "disillusioning, physiological, and darkest" season that they will attempt to make.

Following quite a while of holding up, fans will finally get a taste of what's in store for the third season of "Tokyo Ghoul." It is believed that the eagerly anticipated season will be stacked with great action scenes.

"This is perhaps the most disillusioning, psychological and darkest plot line that we will attempt to adapt," the anime's writer Bob told Anime Maru. "We hope to remain as faithful as possible to the source material, although we cannot guarantee that more gory scenes such as Touka's standardized exam test-taking will not be censored."

The first episode of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 will reportedly feature a monologue where Touka Kirishima, a ghoul and an ex-waitress at Anteiku, mourns her pain over picking between the To - Oh University, Kamii University, and Duke University.

What's more, the fear of ghoul discrimination will particularly be inescapable in "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3. It is credited to the rise in racial strains between the United States and the recent incident of a noose discovered hanging at Duke.

Apart from that, ASZ News reported that the setting of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 is said to be two years after the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG) raided the Anteiku, a small neighborhood café that serves as the headquarter of the most peaceful ghouls.

With this, looming intense battles and collision between a terrorist organization composed of ghouls, dubbed Aogiri Tree, and the CCG are bound to happen in "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3.

While nothing is impossible, the reports should still be taken with a grain of salt. "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 is rumored to be released in late 2017.
