Apple recently unveiled its Watch Series 2 along with the new smartphone range iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Below we have compared the wearable with another latest flagship smartwatch, Samsung Gear S3. This report is intended to provide you with an overview of the specs and features of both the devices and thus help you to choose the best pocket-friendly gadget.
To start with, the Apple Watch Series 2 sports similar design as that of its predecessor. The only difference is the ceramic white chassis, which is reported to be four times harder than steel. The second installment of the Apple watch has been made available in two different cases with 38mm and 42mm dimensions with272 x 340 and 312 x 390 pixels resolution, respectively.
On the other hand, the Samsung Gear S3 features a circular design, which is also similar to its earlier installment. Even though the watch has been made available in two variants, the Frontier and the Classis, both are reported to similar in terms of design. Also, both the watches are waterproof but the Gear S3 has the ability to remain submerged in 1.5m of water for 30 minutes whereas the Apple Watch Series 2 can be submerged to 50m.
Furthermore, The Apple Watch 2 features a 1.65-inch screen with OLED Retina display with Force Touch, which is stated to be twice as bright as its predecessor. Whereas, the Samsung smartwatch sports a 1.3-inch screen with an AMOLED always-on display panel with 360 x 360 pixels resolution.
As far as the hardware specs are concerned, the Gear S3 watch is powered by a dual-core 1GHz chipset along with 768 MB RAM and internal storage of 4GB whereas the Apple device sports a new dual-core S2 processor, which is touted to be around 50 percent faster than the original Apple Watch. It also consists of an enhanced graphics card.
In terms of software specs, the Apple Watch 2 runs on the latest watchOS 3, which provides you with an excellent user interface. The operating system also features a built-in SOS function, which will send messages to other people if you are in need. The Samsung Gear S3 sports the same Tizen operating system as that of the S2 device. It provides the user with applications like Uber and Spotify.
Both the Apple Watch Series 2 and Samsung Gear S3 feature a GPS sensor, which helps the athletes to calculate accurate distance and speed-tracking. The new function also provides the users with properly routed maps. Additionally, the Samsung wearable consists of sensors like a gyroscope, an accelerometer, and a heart rate sensor.
Besides, the Samsung Gear S3 sports a 380mAh battery, which is stated to last up to four days with the always-on display turned off. On the other hand, there are no details available about the battery of the Apple Watch 2, but it is expected to provide the same 18-hour battery performance of the original wearable.
Last but not the least; the Apple Watch Series 2 is touted to be expensive as compared to its predecessor with a price tag of $490. However, there are no details available about the Samsung Gear S3, but it is expected to be priced higher than the earlier installment.
