Possibly the most important Android smartphone of 2012, the Samsung Galaxy S3, will reportedly be making its merry little way to Verizon, leaving AT&T in the waiting seat until whenever Verizon timed exclusive hold on the device is over.
BGR said it has "exclusively learned details about most, if not all of Verizon Wireless's flagship smartphone launches for the remainder of 2012" and "Verizon Wireless will indeed be offering the Samsung Galaxy S3."
"While we have a clear picture of Verizon's fall smartphone lineup, we would assume the Galaxy S III will be available over the summer," the tech site reported. The report has to be taken with a pinch of salt because BGR failed to mention how or from where it got the exclusive "details" of Verizon's 2012 lineup of smartphones.
However, if BGR is not shooting in the dark, obviously this news is no way a good thing for AT&T, as there won't be another Android smartphone that will get more attention than Samsung's little beast of a smartphone. The device, which is powered by Samsung's Exynos 4 Quad chip with a rumored clock speed of 1.4GHz, will be the company's flagship Android smartphone to tackle the iPhone 5, Nokia Lumia Windows Phone devices, and the host of Android smartphones from other manufactures to launch later in 2012.
Verizon offering the Galaxy S3 came at a surprise since the company chose to go with the Galaxy Nexus instead of the Galaxy S2. It seems Verizon realized the error in its ways, and chose to make the right decision this time around.
Folks on AT&T now have two choices, either wait until the device is launched in your preferred network, or jump ship. Time will tell the kind of impact this will have on AT&T.
Verizon and Samsung plans on launching the Galaxy S3 in the summer. Furthermore, there are other devices such as the Motorola RAZR HD launching via Verizon, so consumers will have choices if the Galaxy S3 is not a device they wish to bring home.
Samsung Galaxy S3 is scheduled for launch on May 3 in London.
