Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Release Date Moved To 2017? Rumored Specs To Match iPad Pro Incl. Kaby Lake Processor, Surface Pen, USB-C Port
Anish AsokanOne of the highly-anticipated tablets to be launched next is the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. At one point in time, speculations were rife that the release could be anytime in October 2016. However, it seems that it is unlikely to be revealed.
One of the prime reasons to suspect that is because of the reports that a major Windows 10 update is coming early 2017. As mentioned in Cnet, it seems this update could specifically be to show off the new Windows capabilities in new devices.
When it comes to specs, rumors are high that the new Surface Pro 5 would arrive with a 2K screen. A 4K model will also be available for those who are ready to splash some cash. Possible upgrade to 16 GB RAM can be assumed since the Pro4 is available with the 16 GB RAM capacity.
Anticipation for a rechargeable Surface Pen and dock is high. With reports from Patently Mobile that Microsoft recently filed a patent application for same, the new Surface Pen could follow the iPad Pro's Apple Pen and possibly be recharged via the lightning connection.
The other likely components could be the USB port, cameras, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. There is a strong possibility of seeing the USB-C port in the new device. The USB-C port could also be used for charging making it also likely to see the proprietary charging connector to be defunct. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth should see the latest version upgrades.
The other popular talks are about the processor. With Intel announcing the successor to Skylake processors, the " Kaby Lake" processors, by end of 2016, the fifth generation Microsoft tablet is expected to be one of the early devices to have the new processors under its hood.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.
