'No Man's Sky' Update: What's Next For Hello Games After Its First Failure? Game Being Investigated For False Advertising
J RoseHello Games' highly anticipated space game "No Man's Sky" has left almost all players highly dissatisfied. Will the indie studio be able to bounce back after its first bomb?
Hello Games Stay Silent Amidst Issues
The studio has been regularly posting status updates on the "No Man's Sky" Twitter account prior to its release date. However, after the game did hit the shelves and more and more people demanded for an explanation as to why the it did not turn out as promised, the team has unfortunately chosen to keep silent.
That's not to say that the team has abandoned the game altogether. Hello Games has been actively patching up game bugs in the background. Due to the silence, however, the players now have no idea what's coming up next for "No Man's Sky."
In Hello Games' last post on its official site, the studio promised "free future updates" for "No Man's Sky."
"What matters now, as always, is what we do rather than what we say," the developers wrote on the blog post. "We're developers, and our focus is first on resolving any issues people have with the game as it is, then on future free updates which will improve, expand and build on the 'No Man's Sky' universe."
This post was published a month ago, but until now, there were no clear cut explanation on what these "free updates" are or when it will be launched, leaving its remaining players completely in the dark.
False Advertisement Claims Being Investigated
Eurogamer has reported that the Advertising Standards Authority has now started its investigation into "No Man's Sky," stating that Hello Games may be guilty of false advertising.
AzzerUK, the Reddit user who brought his concerns about "No Man's Sky" to the regulatory board in the UK, said that his intention is not to spread hate for both the game and the developers.
"But I did feel personally misled", he said. "The marketing of the game was very different to the end game. The end game is a shallow screenshot generator, and in some ways it reminded me of 'Spore'."
AzzerUK also included Steam owner Valve in the investigation. "I figured that if we want Steam store pages for games to start falling in-line and stop misleading consumers, then it would take consumers to point these problems out to the ASA, rather than all sit around on Reddit complaining to each other but assuming that it'll all get sorted by itself eventually." the Reddit user said.
Stay tuned for more "No Man's Sky" updates.
