'Crash Bandicoot Remastered' Release Date Delayed Due To Voice Actor Strikes?
J RoseFans are excited to see the iconic video game "Crash Bandicoot" make its way to the Playstation 4, but some fear that the recent strikes would affect the release date of the game next year.
SAG-AFTRA, a union that represents voice actors and stunt performers, announced a strike against video game developers early this week, following a breakdown in negotiations.
"Management remains unwilling to agree to fair terms that would bring the interactive contract into the 21st century," SAG-AFTRA said on its site.
"After nearly two years, management has been unwilling to resolve these issues in an equitable manner," the union continued. "This strike is not the union's preferred outcome, but is necessary to let employers know SAG-AFTRA members will stand fast to their principles and not be exploited."
The union also released a list of projects that its members are no longer allowed to work on, and Activision, who is the publisher for "Crash Bandicoot Remastered," is included in the list.
Sony did not specify an exact release date for the remastered bundle when they announced "Crash Bandicoot Remastered" at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, stating only that the games will be launched next year.
Previous leaks have pointed to a Feb. 28, 2017 release date for the remastered bundle, which includes the first three "Crash" games, "Crash Bandicoot," "Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back," and Crash Bandicoot: Warped." Now the game could be pushed later in the year if the strike continues.
More information about the "Crash Bandicoot" remasters are expected to surface at this year's Playstation Experience, which will take place in Anaheim on Dec. 3 and 4.
Another highly anticipated title, Square Enix's "Kingdom Hearts 2.8," is also on the list, under Disney Character Voices Inc, while Take-Two Interactive is working on a secret project under the codename "Alligator."
Will the "Crash Bandicoot Remaster" be delayed? More on this as the strike develops.
