PlayStation 4 Pro vs PC: Is Sony's New Console Finally The Answer To The PC Master Race Culture?
C. de LacyThe PlayStation 4 Pro has been finally released and it wouldn't take days before it finally gets to be compared to the PC as more and more people get a first hand experience of what it has to offer.
The PlayStation 4 Pro is somewhat a subtle upgrade from the standard PlayStation 4, but a number of features and processing muscle have been introduced to make the console look and feel more appealing with a wider array of audience.
However, as Arstechnica made its review of the PlayStation 4 Pro, analyzing it is more similar to reviewing a PC GPU rather than an entirely new console as it will still support every game that will be released for the original and the newer pro variant. In simpler terms, there are no software differences and only subtle upgrades and enhanced visuals.
With the current reviews and all, it may be evident that PlayStation 4 isn't something that would actually topple the "Glorious PC Gaming Master Race" or simply PC Master Race if there were ever a competition.
While there have been numerous features added with the PlayStation 4 Pro and with the eye-popping and obvious 4K treatment despite being a mere upscale on a number of games, the console still lacks some of the things that made PC Gaming a subculture of its own.
One good example is how mods have been introduced will games like "Fallout 4" and "Skyrim Special Edition." While we can give kudos to how developers listen to their fans, it wouldn't be enough to just get the idea without properly executing it. Mod support for the mentioned games on the console isn't as great as it is on the PC.
The PlayStation 4 Pro upgrade will also feel like a GPU upgrade for a PC for real, especially with the fact that there aren't any exclusive games or even features worth turning our heads to. It is still a PlayStation 4 technically with added belles and whistles.
There are some reasons why the PlayStation 4 Pro and its smaller PlayStation 4 brother could be a better choice for some, especially with the exclusive titles for the PlayStation 4 line of product, but that's where the advantage actually ends.
PC gaming could be better in various scenarios and not just because it has the power that keeps improving due to its modular design, but it could also be a more affordable solution for some who have already started with some "building blocks."
