The year is almost over and Google has not yet given details about the rumored Nexus 7. Fans are now wondering if the highly-anticipated device would come out before 2016 ends.

Previously, it has been speculated that the new Google tablet might be unveiled just in time for the Christmas holidays since the giant company failed to announce the Nexus 7 back in October. However, there were also reports that suggested the device is hardly possible to be released this year due to the fact that the company remains mum about it and that there hasn't been any single leaked image of the new Nexus 7 that surface online.

Earlier it has been said that Huawei would build the new 2016 Nexus phones for Google due to the success of Nexus 6P. But with the recent reports surrounding the net that Huawei has decided not to make phones for Google anymore since the tech giant company wants a manufacturer that would detach itself from the phone's design and branding, etc., Nexus 7 seems unlikely to happen this year.

According to GSMArena, "the Chinese company (Huawei) reportedly turned Google down because the search giant insisted that its brand should be the only one adorning the Pixels. When Huawei execs heard that the Huawei logo wouldn't be on the phones, they turned Google down."

Huawei on the other hand is reportedly willing to work with Google in the future but not as their phone manufacturer.

However, PC Advisor reported that Google is working with HTC. The Nexus 7 2016 then, is probably imminent.

"HTC is excited to work with Google to create the new Pixel smartphones," spokesperson for the Taiwanese consumer electronics group told the source. "We're proud that when Google needed an industry-leading partner for the Pixel, HTC was the clear answer."

Meanwhile, the Google device is expected to house the Andromeda OS instead of the Nougat operating system.

It is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820(SD 820) combined with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.

In terms of its battery, the Google Nexus 7 2016 is speculated to pack 5100 mAh battery capacity and sport a USB Type-C connectivity.

Google is yet to give its official statement regarding its much-awaited tablet device, the Google Nexus 7.
