'Pokémon Go' Latest News: Niantic Introduces Pichu And Togepi, Along With Other Mystery Pokémon, In Latest Update
Charles LimDespite the rapid fall of its player base shortly after it was released, the augmented reality mobile video game, "Pokémon Go", still continues to have a strong number of die-hard players still exploring the world for new and rare Pokémon. Niantic is apparently well aware of this fact, which is why they are still continuing to roll out new updates for the game. Now, the company has released a brand new update that introduces two brand new pint-sized Pokémon that should be welcomed additions to every player's Pokédex.
As previously promised by the game's developer, players should be getting a prompt to update the game starting today. The update will be introducing several new Pokémon that can be acquired through hatching eggs at PokéStops. Niantic only mentioned two specific Pokémon, namely Togepi and Pichu, while others still remain to be a mystery as of this writing. Strangely enough, the new Pokémon may only be acquired through hatching eggs and cannot be encountered in the wild.
Along with the new update, Niantic also released a short and seemingly low-budget trailer that introduces the two new Pokémon.
Niantic did provide a hint on what other Pokémon there could possibly be, even mentioning that they were Pokémon that originated from the Johto Region and were first seen in "Pokémon Gold" and in "Pokémon Silver". Nevertheless, information regarding the other new Pokémon should surface soon as players could already be encountering them now after updating the game.
As an added bonus, Niantic has also announced that players should be encountering a holiday-themed special edition Pikachu until Dec. 29. The customized Pikachu will apparently be released in large quantities and will be easily spotted by its easily noticeable festive hat. The new holiday-themed Pokémon will become available right after updating the game and will be relatively easy to encounter in all regions where the game is available.
