'2017 CES' News & Updates [VIDEO]: Samsung, Sony, Huawei Set For Smartphone Showdown At Next Year's CES In Las Vegas
Joshua KyleA gathering of the biggest brands in electronics, the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) get to showcase the next-generation devices that will slug it out for domination in the tech market. While some companies decided to skip the January 5-8 event in favor of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February, others will utilize the one month period to jump off their devices ahead of other companies.
Expected to gather some 3,600 electronic companies, the 2017 CES will gather tech innovators from over 140 countries from around the world in Las Vegas, Nevada. Among the brands that vowed to showcase their newest products during the event are Samsung, Sony, Huawei, LG, Xiaomi, Lenovo, and HTC.
Taiwan-based company Asus is also set to showcase its newest device under the Zenfone series: the Asus Zenfone 4. It will run on the latest Android 7.1 Nougat operating system and powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor.
A newly improved and upgraded version of the Samsung Galaxy A series is also set for a market debut during the 2017 CES. This includes Samsung's Galaxy A3, A5, and A7 --- all of which are coming out with better and faster processors as compared to their predecessors. The devices will also sport improved battery life and Super AMOLED full HD displays, except for the Samsung Galaxy A3.
The 2017 CES will also pave the way for the Xperia XA's market launch, a mid-range smartphone device from Japanese tech giant Sony. Measured at 145 x 66 x 8mm, the Sony Xperia XA will showcase a 5-inch HD display with a USB Type-C port for charging and wired connectivity.
Huawei is also set to showcase the latest additions on its smartphone lineup, the Huawei Honor and Huawei Honor Magic. These two devices are the successors of Huawei P9, which vowed to feature better specs and superb features.
Other smartphone companies that already booked spots at the 2017 CES event include LG, Xiaomi, Lenovo, and HTC. However, they have kept the pre-debut announcements of their new products to a minimum.
