Niantic's Pokemon Go continues to be all the rage all over the world as the studio introduced new Pokemon into the game. However, efforts to coax lost numbers back into the game have been halfhearted as of late --- especially with several demands from players such as legendaries, PvP, Pokemon abilities, and more that are yet to be introduced into the game.

But it seems like 2017 is going to be the year for many Pokemon Go players; Niantic has a couple of surprises on its pipeline. Its holiday event, for one, will bring several gift boxes and Christmas events for Pokemon trainers. Will this signal the introduction of the Gen 2 Pokemon, new abilities, and legendary Pokemon that all trainers have been waiting for?

What The Pokemon Go Christmas Event Means

News about the Pokemon Go Christmas event is a pretty big deal. Mirror reported that players would earn double the amount of XP for catching and evolving creatures or defeating them at the gym. This would allow them to level up in in the game faster.

The report further stated that the Pokemon Go Christmas event could finally introduce the 100-strong Generation 2 Pokemon, which have been reported on extensively towards the latter part of the year. Not only will this expand the players' roster further, but will also allow several Generation 1 Pokemon to evolve further.

For example, Eevee will get two new evolutions: Umbreon and Espeon; Slowpoke will get Slowking, while Zubat will get Crobat. As such, it might be a good idea to stock up on these Gen 1 Pokemon to make sure that they get the most out of the Pokemon Go Christmas event update.

Pokemon Abilities And Legendary Pokemon

Unfortunately, there's no news yet as to whether Pokemon Go will finally introduce new Pokemon abilities and legendary Pokemon. Stay tuned for more details on Pokemon Go updates and new features.
