Square Enix Needs Remake Version of 'Final Fantasy VII' Stick to Traditional Plot, Storyline & Characters

Upcoming remake of "Final Fantasy VII" have caused so much stir in the gaming community yet so much questions reside on how accurate can Square Enix stick to the story this time around. "Final Fantasy VII" remains as the strongest so far among all of Final Fantasy iterations so a remake in late PlayStation 4 era makes sense but at a huge catch.

"Final Fantasy VII" is a victim of its own fast-paced marketing fuss that made changes necessary. Dilemma is the eventual sacrifice that original storyline and tall sci-fi niche has to make in order to accommodate too many twists. In the end, "Final Fantasy VII" ended up in murky waters of its own making, Paste Magazine assessed.

Make no mistake about it, "Final Fantasy VII" will remain a bankable among the franchise flagships but purists began to question Square Enix's capabilities to remain true to the plot. There was supposed to be identity and storytelling above action and gameplay that every "Final Fantasy VII" developers forgot.

To dissect some of these "Final Fantasy VII" complexities that led to loose hold toward Cloud's character, let us start in the beginning. Cloud was supposed to be an anti-hero with inner problems finding his own identity, yet "Final Fantasy VII" presents him as plain go-for-the-money mercenary.

Another, while it is a given that Cloud should give Sephiroth a chase, the game packed him with too much superficial hatred that made him ridiculous at some point. As if "Final Fantasy VII" simply made Cloud a force driven by hatred to justify action-packed encounter with Sephiroth.

There is no need to put the whole support casts like Tifa and Aerith in game version of "Final Fantasy VII" to make the whole picture. Otherwise, it will only lead further astray from the original plot of "Final Fantasy VII" we have seen from the movie and other media. The game made Tifa a flirt instead of reserved, Aerith as saintly instead of wise.

At any rate, GameNGuide suggests that "Final Fantasy VII" is going to knock on doors again albeit undisclosed timeframe. Gamers will root on action while purist will go for storyline but everybody hope for at least a middle ground were both could meet.
