While action gaming fans had been desperately waiting for the launch of "Assassin's Creed" movie for quite a while, they are very much disappointed with the baseless movie plot. With a production budget of $125M, 20th Century Fox and UbiSoft could've done so much more but they appear to have failed in keeping up with the expectations of the franchise fans so far. Although the movie starts to pick up pace and viewer's interest in the third half, the viewers find it hard to convince themselves to watch a sequel of the movie, if there happens to be any.

A number of video game adaptations have performed very well in the box-office. "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider", "Angry Birds", "Prince Of Persia", "Resident evil" and "Hitman" are among the hundreds of game-based-movies which are well appreciated by the gaming fans. There are however, some adaptations which did not cater to the fans' needs and "Assassin's Creed" seems to be one of such type. The movie is neither a perfect game adaptation nor does it have a completely independent storyline.

The movie revolves around Callum Lynch, played by Michael Fassbender, who is saved from execution by Abstergo, a research company secretly run by the Knights Templar. The Templars need Lynch to help them find Aden's Apple, which according to the storyline is the cure for violence and also a way to eliminate free will. Because Lynch is the last descendant of Aguilar, a 15th-century Assassin's creed, he knows where the powerful artifact is hidden.

After getting played by the Templar research team lead by Sofia (Marion Cotillard), Lynch finally realizes his identity and fights his way to safely get Aden's Apple back. "Assassin's Creed" movie has some perfect animations and scenarios, giving the viewer a glimpse of the 15 century Spain. The action scenes are well collaborated as the actor switches between the past and the present memories on the giant VR tech machine 'Animus'.

The actors have done their part in the movie but it's the dialogues and half-finished sequences that have failed "Assassin's Creed". The free running sequences appear quite mesmerizing at first, however, if you've played the game, you'll always find something lacking from the action scenes. Series fans, however, will notice Lynch's partner Maria (Ariane Labed) to be playing a promising role. Still, the storyline remains unfinished and the past-present division is never fully explained.

It's quite possible that the production houses had already planned to launch a sequel after the current "Assassin's Creed" that will complete the blanked out gaps in the story. The movie currently is standing on about $42m collection in the US, with another $44m collection from around the globe. While it's way too early to judge whether there will a sequel, based on the fans' reviews it seems very unlikely. All we can do is hope that both Ubisoft and 20th Century Fox learn from their mistakes and make a better successor. Stay tuned to Mobile&Apps for more news and updates on "Assassin's Creed" Movie.
