‘No Man’s Sky’ Foundation Update Review: Survival Mode

The much hyped "No Man's Sky", developed by Hello Games, was released in August of 2016 and brought disappointment to people who were eagerly anticipating the game. Due to the lackluster gameplay that was nowhere near what was seen in the trailers, a lot of gamers complained and demanded refunds.

Now thanks to the foundation update, the game has improved significantly with the addition of the long-awaited base-building functionality wherein a player is now able to build bases and farm for resources; and the "Survival Mode." This is a review of the latest game mode by Inverse.

The Survival Mode is a much intense experience compared to the Normal and Creative modes. Similar to the base game where you start on a planet with just a few equipment and tools, only this time the weather will be much more extreme, wherein it eats at your suit and resources away and enemies will be more aggressive. Since the weather conditions are not always ideal, you will have to learn to operate inside caves and building so you may keep your suit functional. You also need to manage your supplies properly as pacing of the game has changed.

According to the review, the new game mode does an excellent job of utilizing new mechanics like building, which brings satisfaction to the player.

Overall, the addition of Survival Mode brings new experience to "No Man's Sky" and a satisfying one at that whenever an objective is completed. It makes you work harder for everything you want to accomplish.

A lot of gamers were turned off by the initial release of this game, hopefully this update will make them change their minds and start playing this game once again.
